Speech Recognition Threshold

Speech Recognition Threshold (SRT) is the quietest level at which a person can understand and repeat back 50% of spoken words or sentences correctly. It’s a common measure used in hearing tests to assess how well someone can comprehend speech at different volumes. During the test, words are presented at gradually decreasing loudness until the person can just understand half of them. The SRT helps audiologists determine the degree of hearing loss and plan appropriate treatment or hearing aids. Essentially, it indicates the minimum volume needed for someone to reliably recognize speech.
