Spartacist uprising
The Spartacist uprising was a failed communist revolt in Germany in January 1919, led by the Spartacist League, a radical communist group, shortly after World War I. They aimed to overthrow the government and establish a socialist state but faced resistance from the government and other military forces. The uprising was short-lived, ending with violent suppression by government troops and Freikorps paramilitary units. It highlighted the intense political divisions in Germany during the post-war period and contributed to the broader instability that led to the rise of the Nazi era.
