Spanish War of Independence

The Spanish War of Independence (1808–1814) was a conflict between Spain and Napoleonic France. Napoleon Bonaparte's armies invaded Spain, aiming to dominate Europe. Spanish patriots, along with guerrilla fighters and allies, resisted fiercely, fighting both conventional battles and unconventional warfare. The war led to widespread social upheaval, destruction, and significant loss of life. Ultimately, Spain regained its independence, but the conflict weakened the country politically and economically. This war contributed to the decline of Napoleonic France's empire and inspired national movements across Latin America for independence from Spain.
