Southern Blue Whale

The Southern Blue Whale is a massive marine mammal and the largest animal on Earth, reaching up to 98 feet in length and weighing around 200 tons. It is a subspecies of blue whale found mainly in the Southern Hemisphere, including waters off South America, Africa, Australia, and Antarctica. These whales are filter feeders, consuming large amounts of krill and small fish through baleen plates in their mouths. Despite their size, they are gentle giants and are currently classified as endangered due to past extensive hunting. Conservation efforts aim to protect their populations and habitats.
