Sound waves
Sound waves are vibrations that travel through a medium such as air, water, or solids. When an object vibrates, it creates pressure variations in the surrounding particles, forming waves that move outward. These waves carry energy and can be detected by our ears, where they are transformed into electrical signals that our brains interpret as sound. The characteristics of sound waves, like frequency (pitch) and amplitude (loudness), determine how we perceive different sounds. In essence, sound waves are the way energy moves through a medium, allowing us to hear and interpret the world around us.
