Somalia Civil War

The Somali Civil War began in the late 1980s as various clan-based groups opposed the authoritarian regime of Siad Barre. After Barre was ousted in 1991, rival factions fought for power, leading to widespread violence, famine, and humanitarian crises. Somalia became fragmented, with no effective central government. The conflict has resulted in significant loss of life, displacement, and the rise of piracy and extremist groups. Efforts at peacebuilding and establishing a stable government have faced challenges, and the country continues to struggle with instability and insecurity despite ongoing international assistance.
