Solid Rocket Booster
A Solid Rocket Booster (SRB) is a powerful rocket engine designed to provide the initial thrust needed to launch a spacecraft into space. It uses a solid propellant—a tightly packed mixture of fuel and oxidizer—that burns from the inside outward. Once ignited, it produces a large amount of hot gases that rapidly expand and exit through nozzles, generating push. SRBs are reliable because their solid fuel is stable and easy to store, but they cannot be turned off or throttled once ignited. They are often used in space shuttle launches to give that extra turbocharged lift-off.
