Socio-cultural Theory

Socio-cultural theory, developed by Lev Vygotsky, suggests that our learning and development are deeply influenced by social interactions and cultural context. It emphasizes that we acquire knowledge and skills through dialog, collaboration, and guidance from others, especially within our community or peer group. Our thinking is shaped by the language, norms, and tools provided by our culture.
