Social Democratic Party (Portugal)
The Social Democratic Party (PSD) in Portugal is a center-right political party that promotes economic liberalization, fiscal responsibility, and traditional values, while supporting some social welfare policies. Despite its name, it is more conservative than social democratic parties in other countries. PSD advocates for a balanced approach to governance, emphasizing free-market principles, competitiveness, and public-private partnerships, alongside efforts to address social issues. It is one of Portugal’s main political parties and often alternates in government with its center-left rival, the Socialist Party.
