social construct

A social construct is an idea or concept created by society that people agree upon and that shapes how we think and behave. These constructs aren’t naturally built into the world but are formed through shared understanding and cultural norms. Examples include money, gender roles, and time zones. While they have no physical existence on their own, they influence our actions and interactions, helping organize society. Recognizing social constructs helps us understand how many aspects of our world are shaped by collective agreements rather than inherent facts.
