Slotted ALOHA

Slotted ALOHA is a method used in networks for devices to send data efficiently over a shared communication channel. Time is divided into equal intervals called slots, and devices are allowed to transmit only at the start of these slots. If two devices send data at the same time, a conflict occurs, causing both transmissions to collide and fail, requiring retransmission. This approach helps reduce collisions compared to continuous transmission, improving network efficiency. Devices wait for the next available slot to try again, making data transfer more organized and reducing interference among users sharing the same channel.
