SLORC
SLORC stands for State Law and Order Restoration Council, which was a military junta that ruled Myanmar from 1988 to 1997. After the military took control following protests and political upheaval, they established SLORC to govern the country. The organization's primary focus was maintaining power and order, often through strict measures, rather than through democratic processes. In 1997, SLORC was renamed the State Peace and Development Council (SPDC). The regime was criticized internationally for human rights abuses, suppression of political parties, and limited freedoms for citizens.
