
Six Classes of Tea
There are six main classes of tea: White, Green, Yellow, Oolong, Black, and Pu-erh. White tea is minimally processed, lightweight, and delicate, with subtle flavors. Green tea is lightly oxidized, preserving a fresh, grassy taste. Yellow tea undergoes a slow steaming process, giving it a mellow, slightly fruity profile. Oolong is semi-oxidized, offering a range of flavors from floral to toasty, depending on the variation. Black tea is fully oxidized, resulting in a robust, bold flavor. Pu-erh is aged and fermented, developing deep, earthy notes over time. Each class offers unique characteristics influenced by processing and oxidation levels.
