Sirenians
Sirenians are aquatic mammals that include manatees and dugongs. They are large, gentle creatures with paddle-like flippers, a broad tail, and a head with a distinctive, rounded snout. They live in warm, shallow waters such as rivers, coastal areas, and estuaries. As herbivores, they feed mainly on submerged aquatic plants. Sirenians are slow-moving and spend most of their time grazing or resting, making them vulnerable to human activities like boat collisions and habitat destruction. They are important to their ecosystems for maintaining healthy aquatic plant communities.
