Sir Robert Torrens

Sir Robert Torrens was an Australian politician and land reform advocate, best known for developing the Torrens Title system in the 19th century. This system simplified land ownership by creating a central registry where the state guarantees land titles, making property transactions more secure and efficient. Introduced in South Australia in 1858, it replaced the complex and often disputed methods of land title ownership.
