Sir Martin Gilbert

Sir Martin Gilbert (1936-2015) was a renowned British historian and biographer, best known for his extensive works on Winston Churchill and Jewish history. He served as the official biographer of Churchill, producing a comprehensive six-volume biography. Gilbert's scholarship encompassed various subjects, including the Holocaust, World War II, and the history of Israel. He was also a prolific writer, authoring or editing over 80 books. His contributions to history have been recognized with numerous awards, and he was knighted in 1995 for his services to literature and history.
