Sir Leonard Tilley

Sir Leonard Tilley was a prominent Canadian politician and lawyer in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He served as a senator and was instrumental in Canadian politics, notably as a minister and senator. Tilley is best known for co-inventing the nickname "Imperial Preference" and for co-suggesting Canada's national flag and the idea of the "Peace Tower" on Parliament Hill.
