Simplified Characters
Simplified Characters are a set of Chinese characters designed to make reading and writing easier. Introduced in the 1950s, they reduce the number of strokes in traditional characters, making them quicker to learn and write. This reform aimed to improve literacy rates in China by simplifying the complex characters used for centuries. Simplified Characters are primarily used in mainland China and Singapore, while traditional characters remain in use in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau. Both systems represent the same language but differ in their written forms.
