Silurian Period

The Silurian Period, occurring around 443 to 419 million years ago, was a time when Earth’s oceans were rich with diverse marine life, including early fish, corals, and sea scorpions. It followed the Ordovician and saw significant development of coral reefs and the first evidence of vascular plants on land. During this period, the Earth’s climate was relatively stable, facilitating the expansion of marine ecosystems and the initial colonization of land by plants and small invertebrates. The Silurian laid important groundwork for future terrestrial and aquatic biological evolution.
