Silkworm
Silkworms are the larvae of the silkmoth, primarily used in producing silk fabric. They feed on mulberry leaves and, over about a month, spin a protective cocoon of fine silk threads around themselves. When the cocoon is complete, the silk fibers are carefully harvested, unspooled, and processed into luxurious fabric. Silkworm farming, called sericulture, has been practiced for thousands of years and involves managing the insects to produce high-quality silk. The process highlights a fascinating combination of biology and craftsmanship, resulting in one of the most valued natural fabrics in the world.
