Silicone Expanders
Silicone expanders are soft, silicone-based devices used in breast reconstruction surgery. They are inserted beneath the chest muscle to gradually stretch the skin and tissue, creating space for a permanent breast implant. Over time, the expander can be gradually filled with sterile saline solution during office visits, allowing the skin to expand gently. Once the desired size is reached, the expander is replaced with a permanent silicone implant, resulting in a natural-looking breast. This process provides flexibility in achieving personalized results and helps ensure better skin coverage for the final implant.
