Sign languages

Sign languages are complete, natural languages that use visual gestures, facial expressions, and body language to convey meaning. They are primarily used by the Deaf and hard-of-hearing communities to communicate. Each sign language, such as American Sign Language (ASL) or British Sign Language (BSL), has its own grammar and vocabulary, distinct from spoken languages. Sign languages are not universal; they vary by region and culture. They provide a rich means of expression, allowing users to share thoughts, emotions, and information effectively, just like spoken languages.
