Shuttle-Mir Program

The Shuttle-Mir Program was a collaborative space effort between the United States and Russia from 1993 to 1998. It involved American Space Shuttles visiting Russia’s Mir space station, allowing astronauts and cosmonauts to work together in orbit. The program helped both countries learn about long-term human spaceflight, develop joint space technology, and prepare for future exploration missions, like the International Space Station. It was an important step in international cooperation in space, combining American transportation capabilities with Russian expertise in orbiting research stations.
