Shingrix (recombinant zoster vaccine)
Shingrix is a vaccine designed to protect adults aged 50 and older from shingles, a painful skin rash caused by the reactivation of the chickenpox virus. It contains small pieces of the virus to stimulate your immune system without causing illness. After vaccination, your body develops protection to reduce the risk of developing shingles and its complications. Shingrix is administered in two doses, typically a few months apart, and is highly effective in preventing shingles and postherpetic neuralgia, a severe nerve pain that can follow the rash. It's an important step in maintaining health as you age.
