Shared Ownership Schemes

Shared Ownership schemes allow individuals to buy a portion of a property—typically between 25% and 75%—and rent the remaining part from a housing association or developer. This reduces the amount of money needed upfront and makes homeownership more accessible. Over time, owners can usually buy additional shares (staircasing) to increase their stake, and eventually own the property outright. These schemes are designed to help people get on the property ladder, especially if they cannot afford to purchase a home fully at once.
