Shankaracharya (Adi Shankaracharya)
Adi Shankaracharya, a revered Indian philosopher and spiritual teacher from the 8th century, revitalized Hinduism by Advaita Vedanta—emphasizing that the true self (Atman) is identical to the universal consciousness (Brahman). His teachings focus on understanding that beyond appearances, everything is fundamentally one, promoting inner realization and spiritual unity. Shankaracharya also unified various Hindu traditions and established monastic centers (mathas) across India to preserve and spread his philosophy. His insights continue to influence spiritual thought, encouraging individuals to seek self-awareness and recognize the underlying unity of all existence.
