Shah Commission
The Shah Commission was an inquiry set up in India in the 1970s to investigate political and administrative misconduct during the Emergency period (1975-1977), when civil liberties were suspended. Named after Justice J.C. Shah, the commission examined abuses of power, corruption, and violations of democratic rights by government officials and leaders. Its findings aimed to promote accountability and restore trust in democratic institutions. The commission played a key role in revealing the excesses of that time, helping shape subsequent reforms to strengthen democratic processes and ensure government transparency.
