Senile Rhinitis

Senile rhinitis is a condition that affects older adults, characterized by inflammation of the nasal passages. It usually leads to symptoms like a runny nose, nasal congestion, and sneezing. Unlike allergic rhinitis, senile rhinitis is not triggered by allergens; instead, it stems from age-related changes in the nasal tissues and mucus production. These changes can cause the nasal membranes to become more sensitive and produce excessive mucus. While it is not usually severe, it can affect comfort and quality of life. Management may include nasal saline sprays and medications to relieve symptoms.
