Seneca the Elder

Seneca the Elder was a Roman Stoic philosopher, teacher, and writer who lived from approximately 54 BCE to 39 CE. He is best known for his works on rhetoric and oratory, often compiling and commenting on speeches and debates of his time. His writings provide valuable insights into Roman educational practices and public speaking. Although he was not a philosopher in the strictest sense, his contributions helped shape the study of rhetoric, influencing later scholars and speakers. His son, Lucius Annaeus Seneca (the more famous philosopher), continued his intellectual legacy.
