Senate of Argentina

The Senate of Argentina is the upper chamber of the country's National Congress, responsible for reviewing and approving legislation, particularly laws related to national interests, treaties, and appointments. It consists of 72 senators, with each of Argentina’s 23 provinces and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires electing three senators regardless of their population size. Senators serve six-year terms and can be re-elected. The Senate works alongside the Chamber of Deputies to pass laws, oversee government actions, and represent regional interests at the national level, playing a key role in Argentina's legislative process and checks on executive power.
