Seizure Types in Idiopathic Generalized Epilepsy
Idiopathic Generalized Epilepsy (IGE) is a type of epilepsy characterized by seizures that affect both sides of the brain from the start. The main seizure types include absence seizures, where a person briefly loses awareness and may stare blankly; myoclonic seizures, which involve sudden, quick jerks of the body; and generalized tonic-clonic seizures, which cause stiffening of the body followed by intense shaking. These seizures often occur without any clear cause, hence being termed "idiopathic," and can vary in frequency and severity among individuals.
