Idiopathic Generalized Epilepsy
Idiopathic Generalized Epilepsy (IGE) is a type of epilepsy characterized by seizures that affect both sides of the brain at once, without a known cause. These seizures can take various forms, such as absence seizures (brief lapses in awareness) or generalized tonic-clonic seizures (involving loss of consciousness and muscle stiffness). IGE typically starts in childhood or adolescence and can be hereditary. Treatment often involves medications to help control the seizures, and many individuals can lead normal lives with proper management. The term "idiopathic" indicates that no specific underlying reason for the epilepsy has been identified.
