Sefirat HaOmer

Sefirat HaOmer, or the Counting of the Omer, is a Jewish ritual connecting Passover to Shavuot. It occurs during the seven weeks (49 days) between these two holidays, commemorating the time it took for the Israelites to reach Mount Sinai and receive the Torah. Each day is counted, creating a sense of anticipation and spiritual preparation. Traditionally, this period is also associated with themes of personal growth and self-refinement. The practice involves reciting a blessing and counting each day, culminating in the celebration of Shavuot, which commemorates the giving of the Torah.
