SEER Rating
The SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) rating measures how efficiently an air conditioner or heat pump uses energy over a typical cooling season. It’s calculated by dividing the cooling output (measured in British Thermal Units, or BTUs) by the total electrical energy consumed (measured in watt-hours). A higher SEER rating indicates a more energy-efficient system, which can reduce your electricity bills and environmental impact. Modern units typically range from around 13 to 26 SEER. Think of it as a fuel efficiency rating for your HVAC system—higher means more cooling for less energy.
