Second International

The Second International was a global organization of socialist and labor parties founded in 1889 to promote workers’ rights, social equality, and international solidarity. It aimed to coordinate efforts across countries to improve working conditions, advance socialist policies, and support workers' movements. The organization also sought to unify diverse socialist groups and push for revolutionary change. Although it faced internal disagreements, particularly over how to approach reform versus revolution, the Second International played a key role in fostering international cooperation among workers’ movements in the early 20th century. It dissolved around 1916 due to rising tensions related to World War I.
