Second-Hand Smoke
Second-hand smoke refers to the mixture of smoke from burning tobacco products and the smoke exhaled by smokers. It contains many harmful chemicals that can be inhaled by nonsmokers nearby. Exposure can occur indoors, in cars, or shared public spaces, and it increases the risk of respiratory issues, heart disease, and certain cancers in those who do not smoke. Pregnant women and children are especially vulnerable. Because of these health risks, avoiding environments with second-hand smoke is recommended to protect overall well-being.
