Second Council of Lyon

The Second Council of Lyon, held in 1274, was a major church meeting where bishops and leaders worked to restore unity between the Western (Catholic) and Eastern (Orthodox) Christian churches, which had become separated in 1054. They discussed theological differences and aimed to reunite the churches through agreements and reforms. Although some agreements were made, full reunion was not achieved, and the divisions persisted. The council also addressed church reforms and political issues of the time, making it a significant attempt at church unity and stability during medieval Europe.
