
Sebaste
Sebaste was an ancient city founded in the Roman era, located in what is now modern-day Turkey. Originally named Aegae, it was renamed Sebaste in honor of Augustus, the first Roman emperor, meaning "August" or "Venerable." Famous for its strategic location and beautiful harbor, Sebaste prospered through commerce and trade. Today, it is an archaeological site with remains of Roman baths, temples, and walls, offering insight into its historical significance during the Roman and early Christian periods.
