SeaWiFS Project
The SeaWiFS (Sea-viewing Wide Field-of-view Sensor) Project was a satellite-based system launched in 1997 to monitor oceans worldwide. It used specialized sensors to measure the amount of sunlight reflected by the ocean's surface, helping scientists analyze water quality, phytoplankton populations, and ocean health. By providing continuous, high-resolution data, SeaWiFS improved understanding of climate change, carbon cycles, and marine ecosystems. The project operated until 2010, offering valuable insights that support environmental management and scientific research without requiring direct ocean measurements.
