Seanad reform

Seanad reform refers to changes aimed at making Ireland's upper legislative chamber, the Seanad, more effective, democratic, and representative. Currently, the Seanad's members are partly elected by specific groups and partly appointed, which some view as untransparent or undemocratic. Reforms could include altering how members are chosen, reducing or expanding its powers, or improving its ability to scrutinize legislation. The goal is to strengthen parliamentary oversight and ensure the Seanad better reflects the diversity of Irish society, thus enhancing the overall functioning of Ireland's political system.
