Scutum
Scutum is a small constellation in the southern sky, representing a shield. It was created in the 17th century by the Dutch astronomer Petrus Plancius and is named after the Latin word for "shield." Located near the Milky Way, it contains notable objects like the globular cluster M11, also called the Wild Duck Cluster, which is a dense grouping of stars. Although it’s not very prominent or large, Scutum is interesting for astronomers studying stars and star clusters. Its position in the Milky Way makes it a helpful reference point for observing other celestial features in that region.
