Scottish feudal system
The Scottish feudal system was a hierarchical structure where land was owned by nobles and granted to vassals in exchange for loyalty and service. Lords held large estates, and tenants or peasants worked the land, providing goods or military support. This system organized society into ranks, with the king at the top, followed by noble landowners, knights, and common villagers. Land rights and obligations were formalized through agreements, fostering loyalty and social stability. While variations existed over time, the core idea was local control of land combined with reciprocal duties among different social classes.
