Scott W. Rothstein

Scott W. Rothstein is a former American attorney and businessman known for orchestrating a massive Ponzi scheme that defrauded investors out of approximately $1.2 billion. Operating primarily in Florida, he claimed to specialize in settlements from personal injury lawsuits, promising high returns to investors. However, Rothstein was using new investors’ money to pay earlier investors and fund his lavish lifestyle. In 2009, he was arrested, pleaded guilty to multiple charges, and was sentenced to 50 years in prison.
