Scientific Materialism
Scientific materialism is the worldview that everything that exists is made up of physical matter and can be understood through scientific investigation. It holds that all phenomena—thoughts, emotions, and consciousness—result from physical processes in the brain and universe, with no need for supernatural explanations. This perspective emphasizes empirical evidence, experimentation, and observable facts as the basis for understanding reality, viewing the universe as a closed system governed by natural laws. In essence, scientific materialism sees the physical world as the fundamental substance of everything, and that knowledge about it is best gained through science.
