School-wide Positive Behavioral Supports
School-wide Positive Behavioral Supports (SWPBS) is a proactive approach that creates a respectful, safe, and positive school environment. It involves defining clear expectations for student behavior, teaching these behaviors consistently, and recognizing students who display appropriate conduct. The goal is to prevent problem behaviors before they happen by promoting good behavior through expectations, teaching, and reinforcement. SWPBS also involves a team effort among staff, students, and families to develop a supportive community that encourages positive behavior, improved school climate, and greater student success.
