Sawm al-Kaffara
Sawm al-Kaffara, or the expiation fasting, is a specific fast observed in Islam to atone for certain sins or mistakes, such as breaking an obligatory fast intentionally. It involves abstaining from food, drink, and other invalidators of fasting from dawn to sunset for 60 consecutive days. If unable to do so, one must feed sixty needy people with two meals each or provide equivalent charity. The purpose is spiritual cleansing, emphasizing accountability and restoring one's relationship with God through sincere repentance and corrective actions.
