Savarkar's trial
Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, a prominent Indian nationalist, was tried in connection with the 1910 assassination of a British official, Sir Curzon Wyllie. Authorities suspected he had supported revolutionary groups involved in anti-British activities. However, evidence linking Savarkar directly to the murder was limited, and he was acquitted in 1911 due to lack of proof. The trial highlighted tensions between colonial authorities and Indian nationalists, with Savarkar continuing to advocate for Indian independence and nationalist causes afterward.
