Satisfaction Paradox
The Satisfaction Paradox refers to the phenomenon where individuals with higher incomes or wealth sometimes report lower levels of life satisfaction or happiness than those with moderate income levels. This occurs because increased wealth can bring heightened expectations, social comparisons, or stress, which may offset the benefits of financial gain. In essence, beyond a certain point, more money doesn't necessarily lead to greater happiness and can even decrease it, highlighting that factors like relationships, health, and sense of purpose often play a more significant role in overall well-being than income alone.
