Sarmatianism
Sarmatianism refers to the cultural and ideological worldview associated with the Sarmatians, an ancient group of Iranian-speaking nomadic peoples who inhabited the Eurasian steppes from around the 4th century BCE to the 4th century CE. Their beliefs emphasized martial prowess, aristocratic values, and a warrior-based social structure. In a broader sense, Sarmatianism has been used to describe a fascination with warrior virtues, nobility, and a connection to the Eurasian steppe heritage in later periods. It often symbolizes ideals of strength, honor, and a proud, free-spirited identity rooted in nomadic tradition.
