Sandflies
Sandflies are tiny insects, similar in size to a small grain of sand, that belong to the biting fly family. They are most active during dusk and night and are commonly found in warm, humid environments like forests, farms, and areas with dense vegetation. Females feed on blood to develop their eggs, and their bites can cause irritation and swelling. Importantly, sandflies can transmit diseases such as leishmaniasis, which affects skin and internal organs. To avoid bites, it is recommended to use protective clothing, insect repellents, and avoid outdoor activities during peak activity times in endemic areas.
